SEOUL & TAIPEI — July 31, 2026 — Semiconductor and electronics industry leaders witnessed massive market surges today as demand for AI memory and data center infrastructure reached new peaks.
Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix both jumped around 20% in early trading following a global semiconductor rally. Driven by tight supplies in High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) and advanced packaging, market research firm Omdia revised 2026 memory IC growth forecasts upward by 94.1%.
Concurrently, power electronics giant Delta Electronics raised its 2026 capex to NT$70 billion to scale up power management and liquid cooling solutions for AI data centers. As AI hardware requirements continue to outpace supply, major chipmakers and component suppliers are expanding capital investments to meet record demand.
