Flai, a software startup for car dealerships, raised $27 million in a Series A funding round on Tuesday. Base10 Partners led the investment. Additional backers include the Friedkin Group, Findlay Automotive, Toyota’s venture arm, Y Combinator, and First Round Capital. CEO Ari Polakof stated that the company grew from a three-person team last year to about 40 employees.

The software now books 50,000 customer appointments per month for sales and service departments. This growth helped produce a 20-fold increase in revenue. Flai’s artificial intelligence platform manages inbound and outbound phone calls, emails, and texts for more than 10 of the top 50 auto dealer groups in the United States.

The system can go live in a dealership 10 days after contract signing. The startup also launched a bilingual service in Puerto Rico that handles mid-conversation switches between Spanish and English.
