WIREUNWIRED BRIEF

Nvidia has raised the price of its Shield TV Pro streaming device by $100, bringing its new retail price to $299.99 effective October 2, 2026. First launched in 2019, the Android TV streaming box originally debuted at $199.99. Nvidia attributed the sudden price increase to the generative AI boom, which has driven up component costs across the tech industry, particularly for memory and storage.

An Nvidia spokesperson told Ars Technica that component costs have increased substantially across the industry. While the streaming device is currently out of stock on Nvidia's official store, it is available at the new $299.99 price point from Best Buy. Other major hardware manufacturers, including Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony, have also raised the prices of their current gaming consoles due to shifting supply chains.
