NASA Schedules Live Coverage for Northrop Grumman CRS-24 Cygnus Spacecraft Departure from International Space Station

Northrop Grumman’s Cygnus XL cargo spacecraft is scheduled to depart the International Space Station on Friday, October 9, concluding the Northrop Grumman CRS-24 mission after delivering over 11,000 pounds of supplies, science experiments, and cargo. Ground flight controllers will command the Canadarm2 robotic arm to detach Cygnus XL from the Unity module’s Earth-facing port, with release targeted for 12:45 p.m., while NASA astronaut Luke Delaney monitors the procedure aboard the station.
NASA announced live coverage of the undocking and departure starting at 12:30 p.m. EDT. Following its departure, the spacecraft will be packed with thousands of pounds of disposal items and unneeded cargo before performing a destructive atmospheric re-entry and deorbit on Sunday, October 11, which will not be covered by NASA.
The mission originally launched on April 11 aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.
