Paramount+ has announced that *Star Trek: Starfleet Academy* will return for its second and final season in March 2027. Showrunners revealed the release date during a panel at New York Comic Con on Saturday, October 10, 2026. The limited series follows 32nd-century cadets balancing classes, romance, and space adventures. Executive producer Noga Landau explained that season two focuses on characters realizing their lives are taking unexpected directions.

The full cast will return alongside new additions, including Bill Nighy as Nyk Ake, the immortal-capable father of academy chancellor Nahla Ake, played by Holly Hunter. Hunter will also play her own twin sister. Rosemarie DeWitt joins the cast as Laytha Sadal, the First Lady of Betazed. Executive producer Alex Kurtzman promised increased space action, highlighting an upcoming episode featuring the elite Nova Squadron flight team.

Kurtzman compared the sequence to *Top Gun* in space, noting that new technology allowed production capabilities previously unseen on television. Meanwhile, Robert Picardo returns as The Doctor, with his character's future shaped by events from the ten-episode first season. The upcoming sophomore season will stream exclusively on Paramount+.
