Founded in 2020 out of the KTH Royal Institute of Technology, the startup uses battery-operated edge devices that process data locally. A motion sensor activates a camera, and on-device models identify the animal and emit a species-appropriate sound.
The system varies its responses so animals do not become used to the signals. Flox currently has about 150 devices deployed across North America, Europe, and Australia, and expects to end 2026 with roughly $1.5 million in revenue. The company sells hardware units upfront and charges an annual software and intelligence subscription after the first year.
It also partners with manufacturers like train maker Alstom to deploy its software on vehicles. Flox faces competition from firms such as Robin Radar and iCHASE, but founder Sara Nozkova points to the company's accumulated field data as its main advantage. Flox has raised about $5 million in pre-seed and seed funding and is now opening a $10 million Series A round.
