Entrepreneur Dawn Myers created Richualist to solve the overlooked and complex hardware needs of textured curly hair. Her flagship product, Mint, streamlines the traditional wash-day routine. The device detangles, conditions, gels, and styles hair in a single stroke using refillable pods and gentle warming technology. Myers built the tool with materials science company Dow, reducing typical styling times from over an hour to seven to ten minutes while cutting hair shedding and breakage by up to 70%.
The hardware addresses a long-standing gap in the beauty industry, which historically focused on straightening tools. Myers funded early development by selling her home and liquidating her retirement account before securing $1.4 million. After closing funding while undergoing stage three colorectal cancer treatment, she secured a deal on Shark Tank with Mark Cuban and Emma Grede.
Richualist products recently expanded to Ulta's website and are nearing sellout status. Myers is now showcasing the brand at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference.
