WIREUNWIRED BRIEF

Yelp is introducing a new feature that uses an automated voice agent to call restaurants and check current wait times on behalf of users.

Called Check for Me, the feature appears directly on restaurant pages within the Yelp app. Users simply input their party size and phone number, and the artificial intelligence agent handles the phone call. Once the agent gets the information, it texts the results back to the user. Last year, Yelp introduced a separate voice solution aimed at businesses and service providers.

Alongside this tool, Yelp is updating its AI assistant with an OpenTable integration for in-app bookings and better personalization based on past chats. Users can also view chat history from the past 30 days and set custom reminders. Additionally, Yelp is rolling out new list-building tools, weekly personalized recommendations, and a paid product for business owners called Smart Lead Reply, which costs $30 per month.
