Peak XV Partners raises Surge seed investment ceiling to $5 million and unveils 18-startup cohort
Venture capital firm Peak XV Partners has increased its maximum investment per startup to $5 million through Surge, its seed-stage investing platform, as it unveiled its Surge 12 cohort consisting of 18 companies.

Operating under this higher investment ceiling, the firm invested over $50 million across the new batch, which collectively raised more than $90 million in seed funding.
Managing Director Rajan Anandan stated that the bar for raising a Series A has risen significantly, with the firm observing more capital-intensive deeptech companies raising larger seed rounds. The latest cohort spans geographies from San Francisco to Sydney, with more than half of the companies based in India while 13 target global markets.
Surge 12 features startups spanning AI, robotics, space, consumer products, healthcare, music, and fintech, including Alma, August AI, Ditto, GameStock, HiLoop, Hoola Health, Kello, Kindling, Puralink, Reinforce Labs, Riffle, Rosella, Tribe Money, ULOOK, and Wingit, alongside three unnamed companies working in education, applied AI, and medical products. Launched in 2019, Surge has backed over 180 startups, with its 10 largest portfolio companies generating more than $1 billion in combined annual revenue.
