WIREUNWIRED BRIEF

Netflix is trading the dreaded endless scroll for a mood ring. The streaming giant announced it is rolling out a new AI Discover tab designed to help viewers find something to watch based on how they feel in the moment, how much time they have, or what is trending.

Under the new tab, users can browse curated themes using video clips from movies and shows, selecting prompts like something light or scare me. Our read suggests this marks a fundamental shift away from static recommendation rows and toward a conversational, intent-driven interface powered by a new intelligence layer that responds to real-time viewer input.

Viewers can also use tune buttons to save recommendations they like or banish unwanted titles from future suggestions. Netflix describes the addition as a test kitchen where it will try out experimental recipes before deciding which features graduate to the main platform. The feature is rolling out to English-language users on supported televisions in the U.S., with a broader release planned in the coming weeks.

Whether this proactive approach finally cures decision fatigue remains to be seen, but it signals that platforms must move beyond historical watch history to keep viewers engaged.
