WIREUNWIRED BRIEF

Startup Honeyjar is building software designed to automate public relations and communications tasks for companies and individuals. The platform aims to scale senior-level public relations expertise to help founders and other users manage media outreach. Co-founded by industry veterans Michelle Masek and Nadia Jamshidi, Honeyjar automates tasks such as writing announcements, finding reporters, building media lists, and tracking coverage.

The founders state the system is built to handle broader workflows like strategy, timing, and execution. The tool is designed not just for startup founders, but for marketers, investors, creators, and other professionals handling communications without formal titles. It also aims to assist existing public relations agencies and in-house teams.

When Honeyjar launched its waitlist, it drew 10,000 signups in its first 24 hours. Early beta testers include companies like Nextdoor, Coco Robotics, Bloomberg Beta, Mission North, and Full Picture. Addressing concerns that automated software could increase unwanted email pitches to reporters, the founders state that humans must still approve and send messages.

Through an initiative called the Comms Lab, the creators are training the software on professional judgment to help users determine when companies are ready for media coverage.
