Chinese lab Manus has raised more than $500 million in its first funding round since Chinese authorities blocked Meta from acquiring the startup. Boyu Capital and IDG Capital led the round, with participation from existing shareholders including Tencent, HSG, and ZhenFund, according to a WeChat post by parent company Butterfly Effect.
Manus did not disclose its valuation, though it previously discussed a $4 billion target. The startup relocated to Singapore in mid-2025 before Meta agreed to buy it for $2 billion that December. Chinese authorities later ordered the deal undone in April over worries about losing AI talent. Manus resumed independent operations in August and deleted some user data as part of the split.
The funding follows the recent launch of Manus 2.0 and a standalone app called Cue. Cue gives personal AI agents their own email addresses, phone numbers, digital wallets, and computers to handle tasks and make payments. Manus said it will continue hiring globally. According to the report, the company is also considering going public in Hong Kong.
