Airbnb launched a new artificial intelligence search feature during its fall update. Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Brian Chesky stated that chatbot interfaces do not fit e-commerce or travel discovery because they limit users to a few options at a time. Over the next three to six months, Airbnb plans to develop multiplayer artificial intelligence tools that groups can use together.

Chesky noted that the platform will introduce voice agents this fall for search and customer service. He also stated that current applications lack a true operating system built for artificial intelligence at the kernel level. Instead of chatbots, Chesky believes future interfaces will combine pre-designed and generative screens that are built on the fly.

He also discussed agent-to-agent interactions using standard connection tools like MCP, predicting that apps will eventually function as interoperable agents. Chesky believes that major platform creators like Apple or Google must build new operating systems to complete the shift from traditional applications to agents.
