LuxQuanta Raises €8 Million to Accelerate Quantum Cybersecurity Deployment

Barcelona-based deep tech company LuxQuanta has announced the successful closure of an €8 million ($9.3 million USD) Series A funding round, marking a pivotal moment for the global quantum cybersecurity market. The round, led by Big Sur Ventures with A&G as the largest investor, also attracted participation from GMV, Wayra, and the EIC Fund, while existing investors Corning and GTD renewed their commitments. Notably, the funding package includes a €2.5 million grant from the European Investment Committee (EIC) under the EIC Accelerator program, awarded in March 2024.

Where Will LuxQuanta deploy this raised fund?

The funding will fuel the global deployment of LuxQuanta’s Continuous-Variable Quantum Key Distribution (CV-QKD) technology and its flagship product, NOVA LQ®. CV-QKD is a next-generation encryption method designed to secure sensitive data against both current and future cyber threats, including those posed by quantum computing. Unlike traditional encryption, which could eventually be broken by quantum computers, quantum key distribution uses the laws of physics to ensure that any interception of the key can be detected immediately.

LuxQuanta’s technology is already being positioned as a cornerstone for quantum-safe communication infrastructure across industries such as telecommunications, government, data centers, financial institutions, and critical infrastructure.

European Innovation Takes Center Stage

The announcement has sparked significant interest across European technology and cybersecurity circles. Regional media have emphasized the funding’s role in strengthening local quantum innovation and boosting Europe’s competitiveness on the global stage. According to industry experts, this investment underscores Europe’s commitment to becoming a leader in quantum-safe technology.

“LuxQuanta’s funding round is a major milestone, not just for the company, but for the quantum cybersecurity ecosystem in Europe. It accelerates the path toward real-world, scalable quantum-safe solutions.”

What’s Next for LuxQuanta?

With this new capital, LuxQuanta plans to rapidly advance its research in integrated photonics and quantum technologies, scale up production of NOVA LQ®, and expand its presence in international markets. The company’s mission remains clear: to democratize access to robust, scalable, and cost-effective quantum-safe communications worldwide.
