India Achieves Another Milestone Under Project Saturation 4G

India installs 1000 towers under project saturation 4g

Yesterday, BSNL took the internet by storm by announcing that they had completed the installation of another 1000 4G towers within a week in remote locations under the project Saturation 4G. Till now, BSNL has already installed 12,000 4G towers in India in partnership with TCS .

In this article we will try to focus more on Government of India’s Project Saturation 4G which is being executed by BSNL instead of BSNL native 4G project.

What is Project Saturation 4G?

Project Saturation 4G is an ambitious project from the government of India that aims at installing 4G mobile services in 24,680 uncovered villages in remote and difficult areas. The project has a provision to include 20% additional villages on account of rehabilitation, new-settlements, withdrawal of services by existing operators, etc.

In addition, 6,279 villages having only 2G or 3G connectivity shall be upgraded to 4G.

This project is being executed by M/s Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), which is a government arm in telecommunication services), using Atmanirbhar Bharat’s 4G technology stack and will be funded through the Universal Service Obligation Fund.

The whole project has been allotted a fund of Rs 26,316 crore and is expected to be executed within 500 days.

What’s the update on Project Saturation 4G?

According to some officials , to cover 24,680 uncovered villages, approximately 16464 towers would be needed . By mid July 2024 , BSNL had already installed 1000 4G towers .

This number might seem pretty low , but considering the locations like interiors of Andhra Pradesh , Assam where it has been installed, this number is pretty good.

How will India benefit from project saturation 4G?

This project will help India have pan-India 4G connectivity , even in those areas where private players like Jio, Airtel, and VI are unable to provide their internet connectivity.

Also, some of these areas are located on the borders; having high speed 4G connectivity in those areas will help our military in better communications.

Conclusion

Although most part of India is already covered with 4G connectivity , there are still some remote areas on the borders which still does not have 4G connectivity.
With Project Saturation 4G , GOI(Government of India) is trying to bring faster connectivity to these areas with a mission of  having a strongly and faster connected India.

With only 1000 4G towers installed till now , a lot of work is still left but hopes are high that BSNL in collaboration with TCS and Tejas network will wrap up this project by mid 2025.
