Just within a few days of the launch of the Unisoc T760 in India , HMD, the brand that has the license to sell Nokia branded smartphones till end 2026, has launched the first smartphone with Unisoc T760 5G chipset in India.

In fact, HMD has launched two smartphones, both with the Unisoc T760 ,under the Crest series in India, the company’s first own-branded phones.

The two smartphones are named Crest and Crest Max, respectively. The Crest Max, which is the top most model in this series, differs itself from the normal Crest in terms of a higher Megapixel camera and higher RAM .

Both of these smartphones feature the Unisoc T760 5G chipset with a 5,10,000 + Antutu score , making them the first smartphone to come with this chipset in India, a 5000 mAh battery coupled with a 33 Watt charger ( the charger will come bundled with the smartphones ), the Android 14 operating system, and a 90Hz 6.67 inch FHD+ display, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and an IP52 rating.

While the normal Crest comes with a 50 MP primary + 2 MP depth camera on the back coupled with a 50 MP front camera and 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage with a support of upto 256 GB with micor sd card at a price of Rs 14,499, the Crest Max boasts a 64 MP primary + 8 MP ultrawide sensor coupled with a 50 MP front camera with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage at a price of Rs 16,499.

The company has not specified whether they have used a Samsung or a Sony sensor on their cameras, which could impact the overall camera quality of the smartphone.

HMD has tried to justify the prices of these smartphones by offering repairability 1.0 ratings, which mean that most of the components that easily get damaged in a smartphone, like the back panel , battery , display, and charging port, can be replaced easily by the user themselves.

The concept of changing the back panel might not seem new, as Nothing’s sub brand CMF had launched its first smartphone, CMF Phone 1, with a similar feature in which users can easily replace their back panels, but HMD has tried to move a step further with other components also.

The first sale of these smartphones will go live on the 1st week of August , so keep an eye on HMD social media handles if you are planning to buy one.
